October 24, 2002- Gemini Bicycles Recalled by Cannondale Corp.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cannondale Corp., of Bethel, Conn., is voluntarily recalling about 800 Gemini bicycles with medium and large frames. The frames on some of these bicycles have been improperly manufactured, causing too much of the thickest portion of the downtube to be removed. This could cause the frame to break during use, resulting in falls and serious injury to riders.
October 17, 2002- Lida Bicycle Co. Recalls Men's Bicycles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lida Bicycle Co. Ltd., of China, is recalling about 2,400 men's bicycles. The frames of these bicycles can break apart, causing the rider to fall and suffer injuries.
October 2, 2002- Performance Inc. Recall of Bicycle Handlebar Attachments
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Performance Inc., of Chapel Hill, N.C., is voluntarily recalling about 900 sets of bar ends, which are handlebar extensions used on mountain bikes. The bar ends can crack when tightened and come loose during use, which can cause riders to lose control of the bicycle and possibly suffer injuries.

August 29, 2002- Bicycles Recalled by Haro Bicycle Corp
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Haro Bicycle Corp., of Vista, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 1,100 BMX freestyle bicycles. The length of the crank arm in the 2003 model fails to allow sufficient space between the rider's foot and the front wheel, when the front wheel is turned backwards. The rider's foot could come in contact with the front wheel, causing the rider to lose control, fall and possibly suffer serious injury.
August 28, 2002- Bicycle Tire Floor Pumps Recalled by Todson Inc.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Todson Inc., of Foxboro, Mass., is voluntarily recalling about 10,000 floor pumps, which are used for bicycle tires. The pressure gauge lens can separate from the pump and strike a consumer, causing injury.
August 22, 2002- Mountain Bicycles Recalled by Answer Products Inc.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Answer Products Inc., of Valencia, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 850 mountain bicycles. The spring and adjuster can separate from the suspension fork and strike the rider, causing injuries.
August 15, 2002- Mountain Bikes Recalled by Marin Mountain Bikes
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Marin Mountain Bikes, of Novato, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 1,000 Marin-brand, aluminum-framed mountain bikes. The steer tube on the front of these bicycles can break off from the two main tubes of the frame causing the rider to lose control, fall and possibly suffer serious injury.
August 15, 2002- Bicycles With Defective Stems Recalled by Cannondale Corp.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cannondale Corp., of Bethel, Conn., is voluntarily recalling about 1,300 bicycles with defective stems. The stem can break away from the bicycle, causing a loss of control, falls and serious injury to riders.
July 24, 2002- Bicycle Suspension Seat Posts Recalled by Cane Creek
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cane Creek Cycling Components (Cane Creek), of Fletcher, N.C., is voluntarily recalling about 7,700 bicycle suspension seat posts. The seat post's cradle, which attaches to the bicycle seat, can break, posing the risk of falls and serious injury to riders.
July 10, 2002- Bicycles Sold at Target Recalled by Dynacraft Industries Inc.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dynacraft Industries Inc., of San Rafael, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 4,700 Vertical XL2 mountain bicycles. The forks on these bicycles can break apart, causing riders to lose control, fall and suffer serious injury.
June 20, 2002- BY US International Recalls "NEXT" Ultra Shock Bicycles Sold at Wal-Mart
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), BY US International Co. Ltd., of Taiwan, is voluntarily recalling about 132,000 Next Ultra Shock mountain bicycles with "Ballistic 105" front suspension forks. Dynacraft Industries Inc., of San Rafael, Calif., was the sole distributor of these bicycles. BY US International Co. Ltd. manufactured the forks on these bicycles that can break apart, causing riders to lose control, fall and suffer serious injury.
May 9, 2002- Rocky Mountain Bicycles Recalls Mountain Bicycles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Rocky Mountain Bicycles, of Delta, British Columbia, Canada, is voluntarily recalling about 660 mountain bicycles. The chainstay that holds the rear wheel in place can fail, causing the rear wheel to separate from the bicycle. This can cause the rider to lose control and crash.
April 25, 2002- Trailer Bikes Recalled by InSTEP LLC
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, (CPSC), InSTEP LLC, of Mendota Heights, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 4,300 Hitchhiker III Trailer Bikes. The bike's universal joint system can fail, causing a rider to lose control of the bike. This poses a risk of injury to either of the two riders.
April 25, 2002- Bicycles Recalled by Specialized Bicycle Components Inc.
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., of Morgan Hill, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 2,200 bicycles. The rear seatstays, the tube behind the seat that connects the rear axle to the rear shock, can break, possibly causing the rider to lose control and crash.
April 18, 2002- Brunswick Corp. Expanded Recall of Mongoose and Roadmaster Mountain Bicycles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Brunswick Corp., of Lake Forest, Ill., is voluntarily recalling about 103,000 Mongoose and Roadmaster mountain bicycles with Ballistic 105 front suspension forks. The forks on these bicycles can break apart, causing riders to lose control, fall and suffer serious injury.
February 28, 2002- BikeE Corp. Recalls Recumbent Bicycles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, (CPSC), BikeE Corp., of Corvallis, Ore., is voluntarily recalling about 13,500 BikeE recumbent bicycles. The recumbent seats on these bicycles can crack and break, causing the seat to come off the frame and resulting in injury to the rider.
January 3, 2002- Kent International Inc. Recalls "Midget Racer" Mini-Bicycles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kent International Inc. of Parsippany, N.J., is voluntarily recalling about 28,000 "Midget Racer" mini-bicycles. The front fork assembly on these mini-bicycles can loosen or break, and cause the rider to lose control and crash.
November 29, 2001- Profile-Design LLC Bicycle "Aero Bars" Recall
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Profile-Design LLC, of Long Beach Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 8,400 "aero bars" used on racing bicycles. The aero bars are handlebar extensions that either mount in the center of the handlebars or are sold as a complete handlebar and stem system. The aero bars allow riders to ride in an aerodynamic crouching position. The brackets that attach the aero bars' forearm pads, where riders rest their arms, can loosen or separate during use, causing the rider to lose control and crash.
November 14, 2001- Pacific Cycle Recalls Ally Cat Tandem Bicycle Accessories
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Pacific Cycle, LLC, of Madison, Wis., is voluntarily recalling to repair about 2,500 Ally Cat tandem bicycle accessories. The hitch connecting the tandem accessory to the host bicycle can fail, causing the tandem accessory to become unstable, which poses the risk of injury to riders.
