January 5, 2006- Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Recall of Additional 2006 Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., of Valcourt, Quebec., is voluntarily recalling about 4,050 Model Year 2006 Ski-Doo REV500 SS, REV 600 HO, and REV 600 HO SDI Snowmobiles. Cracks could appear in the starter ring gears allowing gear fragmentation at high speeds. The debris could act like projectiles and cause serious injury or death to riders or bystanders.
January 5, 2006- Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Recall of 2006 Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., of Valcourt, Quebec., is voluntarily recalling about 10,400 Model Year 2006 Ski-Doo REV, RT, and RF Snowmobiles. The steering columns on these snowmobiles could have a missing weld, which could allow a steering component to become loose. This could lead to a loss of control or possible collision causing serious injury or even death.
October 14, 2005- Polaris Industries Inc. Recall of Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn. is voluntarily recalling about 16,640 Polaris Snowmobiles. The fuel tank filler neck on these snowmobiles can crack. A crack in the filler neck area may cause the filler neck to separate from the fuel tank. A crack or filler neck separation may allow fuel or fuel vapors to escape from the fuel tank, posing a fire hazard.
July 28, 2005- Polaris Industries Recall of 900 Fusion, 900 RMK, and 900 Switchback Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 7,800 Polaris “900 Fusion” “900 RMK” and “900 Switchback” Snowmobiles. There are three separate issues involved in this safety recall: The nut that fastens the upper control arm ball joint to the suspension spindle can loosen. If this occurs, continued operation could allow the spindle to break and release the upper control arm, posing a risk of loss of control of the vehicle. The fuel tanks can contact the chassis along the bulkheads leading to wear on the tank walls. This could pose a fuel leakage and possible fire hazard to consumers. The gasket sealing the fuel pump assembly to the tank can develop cracks. This poses a risk of fuel leakage and fire hazard to consumers.
May 19, 2005- Polaris Industries Recall of Select Model Year 2004 and 2005 Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 14,000 Polaris Snowmobiles.The fuel tank filler neck may develop a crack at the base where the filler neck meets the fuel tank assembly. This may cause the neck to separate from the fuel tank assembly and allow fuel to escape from the tank, potentially creating a fire hazard.
March 14, 2005- Polaris Industries Recall of “900 Fusion,” “900 RMK” and “900 Switchback” Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries, Inc., of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 11,560 Polaris “900 Fusion” “900 RMK” and “900 Switchback” Snowmobiles. The snowmobile wiring harness may be routed in a way that could disconnect the engine stop switch and the throttle safety switch connector. If this connector becomes unplugged, the engine stop and the throttle safety switches will no longer function. This could pose a possible crash hazard. However, the keyed ignition switch will continue to function and will shut down the vehicle when the key is in the OFF position. The thumb warmer and right-hand warmer could also become unplugged under these harness-routing conditions.
February 9, 2005- Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Recall of Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., of Quebec, Canada is voluntarily recalling about 1,455 2005 Mach Z® 995 and Summit® 995 Ski-Doo® Snowmobiles without functional electric starters. Inappropriate clutch ring gear is installed on some units. This may cause ring gear fragmentation at high speeds and debris could act as projectiles. A projectile could cause serious injury or death.
December 7, 2004- Polaris Industries Recall of 900 Fusion, 900 RMK Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries, Inc., of Medina, Minn. is voluntarily recalling about 2,580 Polaris “900 Fusion” and “900 RMK 151” snowmobiles. The fuel connections between the fuel line and the fuel pump and fuel filter can leak. Failure of the fuel connection can result in leaking fuel and a possible fire, which can result in severe injury or death. In addition, the drive shaft may have been incorrectly heat treated resulting in brittle drive shafts that could fail at lower loads than the shafts were originally designed to meet. Failure of the drive shaft can result in a loss of braking of the snowmobile and severe injury or death.
October 01, 2004- Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Recall of Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Inc., Quebec, Canada is voluntarily recalling Ski-Doo® 2004 MX Z (E) 800 HO and GSX LTD (E) 800 HO snowmobiles. The starter ring gear may crack, causing fragmentation and debris, which may act as a projectile at high speeds. A projectile could cause serious injury or death.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Inc. and Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), Quebec, Canada are voluntarily recalling the following snowmobiles: Ski-Doo® 2003 Grand Touring 800 SDI SE; Legend 800 SDI SE Ski-Doo® 2004 Legend 600 HO SDI SE, SE GT, Sport and Sport GT; Legend 800 HO SDI SE and SE GT; MX Z X, Adrenaline and Renegade X; GSX Limited, Limited 1+1, Sport and Sport 1+1 Ski-Doo® 2005 MX Z Renegade. The throttle lever could become stuck leading to loss of speed control and possible collision.
December 12, 2003- Arctic Cat Inc. Recall of Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Arctic Cat Inc., of Thief River Falls, Minn. is voluntarily recalling 3,700 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles. The red plastic skis used on these 2003 model year snowmobiles could be damaged by UV light exposure. If during off-season storage, the snowmobile was stored with the skis exposed to sunlight, damage may have occurred. If UV damage has occurred, the ski may crack or break during use. If this occurs, it could lead to a loss of control that could result in severe injury or death.
September 16, 2004- Arctic Cat Inc. Recall of Certain 2004 Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Arctic Cat Inc. of Thief River Falls, Minn.is voluntarily recalling about 5,193 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles.The red plastic skis used on certain 2004 Firecat and Sabercat snowmobiles could crack or break as a result of off-season exposure to ultraviolet sunlight. Ski failure could lead to loss of control that could result in severe injury or death.
July 6, 2004- Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. Recall of Ratchet Winch Kits, Sold as Accessory for Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), JSF Manufacturing Inc., of Hazelnut, Ga. is voluntarily recalling about 45 Ratchet Winch Kits. When the ratchet winch, or hook, is under tension, it can detach and be projected, posing a risk of serious injury or death to user or bystander.
February 12, 2004 - Polaris Industries Recall of Accessory Skis for Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn. is voluntarily recalling Accessory Skis for Polaris snowmobiles. The accessory skis sold for Polaris snowmobiles could break, resulting in injury or death.
June 24, 2003- Bombardier Motor Corporation of America Recall of Snowmobiles
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Motor Corporation of America of Grant, Fla. is voluntarily recalling 548 Ski-Doo® snowmobiles, model year 2003, Legend™ and Grand Touring™ SDI and V-1000 models. The Start/RER switch for the SDI models and the Start switch for the V-1000 models may be defective, creating potential problems.
August 27, 2002- Polaris Industries Recall Snowmobiles
Polaris Industries Inc. of Medina, Minn., is voluntarily recalling about 2,200 snowmobiles. Polaris model year 2002 PRO X snowmobiles with model numbers S02NX4CS (2002 440 Pro X Liquid), S02NX4CSR (2002 440 Rolling Chassis), S02NX4FS (2002 440 Pro X Fan), S02NX6ES (2002 600 Pro X), P03NX4FS (2003 440 Pro X Fan, pilot), PO3NX6ES (2003 600 Pro X, pilot) are part of this recall. The snowmobiles have red hoods and nose pans with white and blue graphics. The model number can be found on the right side of the tunnel, where the right foot is placed when seated on the snowmobile. Polaris dealers sold these snowmobiles in the Midwest from September 2001 through March 2002 for between $6000 and $9000. The snowmobiles were manufactured in the U.S.A.
